Mental Health and the Media
This page gathers brief links and clinical reflections on selected media coverage. Some articles are temporarily free and later fall behind a paywall. When shared on Facebook, article links may include additional tracking text, and copying the Facebook URL can sometimes prevent the article from opening correctly. In those cases, pasting the base article link into a browser—without the added Facebook tracking text—usually restores normal access. Access ultimately depends on the publication’s policies and the reader’s subscription status.

Emerging Brain-Based and Non-Pharmacologic Treatments
Stanford Accelerated Intelligent Neuromodulation Therapy is an enhanced form of TMS, a non pharmacologic therapy. TMS offers promise for many conditions, depression, anxiety, even substance abuse.
This NyTimes article is notable for not only the practical tips, but each is accompanied with references to scientific work documenting its merit. I'm particularly intrigued by 'cognitive shuffling,' a means of trying to induce sleep during a restless night.
Personality and Behavior
Narcissism is a hot topic and sometimes 'hot' can become superficial. This article from the New York Times draws attention to some of the nuances of narcissism. We have written on the topic, in a blog post where we make the case that it is the nuances that matter.
Tech. and Mental Health
Human to AI interactions are quite common. Above is a link to an excellent podcast with a sophisticated discussion on the nuances of such relationships. We too have been thinking about AI in mental health and have a blog post considering the potential of a Chat Bot serving as therapist.
