Pharmacotherapy
Pharmacotherapy, or medication management, is the use of medicines to help tune relevant circuits in the brain that effect behavior.

Medications help with basic dimensions of functioning we all share such as positive mood, emotional balance under stress, restful sleep, freedom from inhibiting anxiety, and clarity of thought and accurate decision making.

For many patients, medications are substantially helpful but they can never be a substitute for the growth that comes from engaging and learning from life. The benefit from medications is almost always enhanced by engaging in counseling. Medications should not be used to alleviate negative feelings at the expense of helping patients develop strength and adaptation to life circumstances.
